Hi, I'm Chris Buckley
About Me
I've spent the last 15 years in Farmington, on the south edge of the twin cities, running the technical side of Buds & Bytes, a computer repair / flower shop. Prior to that, as an electrical and computer engineer, I've lived or worked in Michigan, Ohio, Ontario, Kentucky, and Indiana- primarily in the automotive industry.
I originally grew up in Silver Bay, MN- located about an hour north of Duluth on the north shore of Lake Superior. Being an hour away from the comforts of modern suburbia is not a new concept to me. Small town life is definitely in the "pro" column for me when it comes to Canton.
I intend to live in the apartment in the back of the pub. It requires quite a bit of work, but while I figure it out, I've conveniently got a spare kitchen, bathrooms, furnace, water heater, etc. in the pub in case I screw up something bad enough to need a spare :)
I'm also a life long musician. Primarily a vocalist, I've performed in a variety of genres, including classical, musical theater, barbershop, blues, and good old rock n roll. I've more recently started exploring country, folk, and bluegrass music. You'll probably hear me eventually, there aren't a ton of venues, and the walls here are pretty thin.
While I am new to the area, and have no ties to Canton, I respect the long history this building has had at the center of the community. I hope that my design principles and plans reflect that, and believe they will preserve the role the building has had in downtown Canton for another generation.
